Bereavement in Buddhist teaching and practice
Abstract
ABSTRACTThe author, a Buddhist Hospice charity-worker and nurse, offers a personal perspective on bereavement illustrated by a well-known and well-loved Buddhist parable. The article draws out the contemporary relevance of an ancient teaching on the causes of suffering, especially that associated with loss, and suggests practical ways to transcend it as described in Buddhist philosophy.
